hello I am thinking of getting a crested gecko and i am trying to find out what is the best cage for them? I have a 30 gallon aquarium that is not being used. can you post pictures of your cages?

a 30 gallon is just fine....
Taller is better than wider or longer, but a 30 will do well for a 1.2 group. You can see what others have to say, but I would not keep more than 1 male in there if you have any females, as they may fight.

Good luck, and let us know when you get yours...

Reptariums. I keep mine in a 38 gallon Reptarium with a soft tray filled with a mixture of mostly moss, bed-a-beast, and a small amount of vermiculite. The soft tray holds the substrate beautifully and the mesh is easy to clean. Just buy some non-toxic terrarium cleaner and use an old toothbrush to clean your crested's poop off the sides. I do this three times a week, as well as spot-clean the substrate, and my cage is sparkling. The only downside is the Reptarium does not hold humidity too great. I solved this problem by purchasing a humidifier (around $40) and letting it run 1/2 an hour every night. Another tip: When you feed your crested crickets, place the crickets in a large tupperware container (deep enough that they can't jump out) and place this container inside the cage. Your crested will see the crix from above and will dive down into the container to eat. This keeps the cage extra clean.

PS. LLL Reptile sells Reptariums super cheap, the 22 gallon size is perfect for one crested.

I love your setup. One question, do your crested
gecko(s) use the magnet cave at the bottom?

Ok sounds good. Sorry i didn't realize you didn't have any yet

My baby crested gecko has a log that he hides under. I also have a ceramic leaf with a suction cup attached to the glass and sitting on top of the log that creates a space for him to hide. This is fine and dandy now but as he grows he'll need something with more room to hide. One of the magnetic caves would be cool to use. My leopard gecko loves his. He spends most of his time in it and thanks to the outside piece i can observe him without to much disruption. Right now he's sick (some weight loss) so i transfered him to another smaller tank, then completely cleaned out his 20gal. Until i put in HIS cave and water dish his behaviour was totally off.....scary too! I thought for sure i'd lose him, he wouldn't drink from the other dish. But after putting *his* stuff in with him he seems to be doing better. Hes more active (at night of course) and i've seen him drink. Seems they get attached to their stuff As for the magnetic cave, please let me know how it works out. My crested is great at hiding so being able to see him in the cave would be wonderful.
