a cold corn...

captain_science Nov 25, 2003 07:24 PM

I have a three month old corn who seems to be doing quite well (eating fine, tame to handling with out trying to bite me anymore , has shed with no problems). Only thing is that she spends all her time hidden under the substrate in the tank, and usually on the cold side oddly enough. We have a hot side with under tank pad and heat lamp which gives the tank what is supposed to be the right temp grad (in the low 90s on the hot side, and near the middle in the 80s). Before she at least used to hang out in her little snake cave we have in there but now we never see her. Any ideas? other then hiding shes a great snake but I'm starting to worry that maybe something is off in her tank set up or some other such thing.

thanks

The temps seem too high. Try a high side temp in the mid eighties with a cool side in the low to mid seventies. Let us know how this does.

i would also recommend a warm side of mid 80's, since thats what most corns prefer.

but if it doesnt change anything i wouldnt be all that worried. i have a corn that does this too. i tried lowering the temps to the point where it doesnt make sense to even have a cool side and warm side. but he just always seems to prefer the cool side. but i also keep that side somewhat wet, so maybe he just likes that. i dont know...
