froggiefrog Nov 25, 2003 07:59 PM

I have to african clawed frogs. one green and the other is albino. i noticed two days ago, that they both have, what looks like they put there hands in paint. like a hand print. it goes down there arms alittle bit. its not red it is black. they arent acting sick or anything. still eating and swimming around like normal. but could this be the beginning of an illness. i havent found anything about this happening to frogs. can someone please help. thanks Shawna2478@yahoo.com

That black streak is a pad to allow them to grip a large slimy lady friend...Either the weather is cold or you changed the tank with cold water. Keep them room temperature and it will change back to normal. Until then, enjoy their love songs.

Hi,

It may be the beginning of nuptial pads. You mat have 2 male frogs, how old are they? It doesn't sound like anything serious.
