Some softshell questions...

copyleftpenguin Nov 25, 2003 08:10 PM

How's it going? My injured chinese softshell is doing much better. It still has a little more healing to go, but it's getting there. I have a few questions. With chinese softshells, how deep should my water be? My turtle is about 4 inches long. I have just enough water for it to swim around and if it is resting on the bottom of the tank, it can stretch its neck out all of the way and 'snorkel'. Also, there are white spots appearing on the shell. I have a feeling that maybe my basking step is too hard and abrasive? Here is what I am using: http://www.petluvers.com/esureptileturtlebaskingplatform.html
I am doing daily water changes, have been using melafix, and have been dry docking my CSS. Also, I have been using peroxide to clean the wounds I mentioned in my last post. I'd think that these things would help prevent white spots (fungus?). Any help would be appreciated.

It all seems good, I can't help you with the white spots thing though.
