Nose rubbing discoloration questions.

lysergic Nov 25, 2003 08:16 PM

I just bought a baby BT and currently have it in a 20gal long (until I move it into a room I have converted into a cage for him) and noticed that his nose is a little bit discolored from rubbing, is this change permanent? Once I put him the room without clear walls he will stop rubbing his nose right?

Thanks,

Raul

Clear walls does not cause nose rub. They are not so dumb that they can't figure out that glass is solid.

Nose rub is a sign of stress. It doesn't feel comftorable in it's environment (which could be because of many different things), so it is willing to cause itself pain in order to escape.

Is the discoloration perminant?

I agree with Creeps for the most part. Have you actually seen your abigularis rubbing his nose on the cage? I have seen this behaviour from imports, and even some cb. It does happen for a reason, as Creeps suggested. What are you using for a substrate? How many hide boxes have you provided? How are your temps? How much are you handling the animal? Those are the kinds of husbandry questions that you need to ask your self. To temperary solution to the problem you can put dark colored paper over the bottom half of the cage, or where he is rubbing his nose. The discolorations will only go away to a certain extent. That is somthing that you will have to live with. If you would like any further advice/help with your albigularis feel free to email me at: [email]monitors4you@hotmail.com[email/]
Have a good one!
