Fin Inn anyone???

booradley Nov 25, 2003 10:26 PM

I recently went to a restaurant in Grafton, IL called the Fin Inn. If you haven't been there and are anywhere near southern IL you need to go for your next meal! Its a restaurant on the banks of the Mississippi with old wooden furniture, wonderful food, and aquariums built right into the wall. All of the fish are freshwater and there are 2 of the biggest snapping turtles I have ever seen. The tanks are impeccably clean and all of the fish are in top health. One of the largest tanks has an assortment of fish that came from the collection that once was housed at, I beleive, the St. Louis Zoo. For those of you that read my post about my zoo plans. I thought this would be a wonderful way to present the aquatic portion of the zoo. A restaurant and aquarium combination would work wonderfully I think. The owner was very smart in using freshwater fish to save the hassle of freshwater. Just a thought for anyone reading.

We have such a restaurant down here in Fla at the Sawgrass Mills mall in west Broward Co. They use saltwater and it is really wild to see the huge circular tanks (1,000 gal )right there at your table. they also have done the ceiling as a night sky... great concept! Frank
