Worried about Timmy

AzLunchbox Nov 26, 2003 12:03 AM

Hi guys it's me AGAIN....
I'm sure you've all seen my posts about the collared lizard i got saturday afternoon.....well another day has gone by and he is STILL yet to eat.
I'm starting to worry about him.
I called where i got him from and they said they've been feeding them crickets and they have all eaten without any problems. They said to snap the legs off the crickets which i then tried....they said to give him a warm soak which i tried....and he did drink some water.....BUT.....still not eating anything.
I've tried just about everything and don't really know what to do....i don't think he's trying to burmate cuz he's still active during the day......but he's not eating.....does anyone know what i should do?

please help me!

...for a reptile to go off feeding when it is moved to a new enclosure. If yours is a wild caught, they can be pretty frustrating to "train" to accept the feeders you offer; its a matter of TRUST between you and the source of your lizards that they are telling you the truth about it being 'established' and actually eating for them, since some of them won't adjust well at all. Depending on its age and condition, it won't be any danger for it to refuse food for quite a while. Some of them need to have a bit of time to settle in to their new environment, make sure there is water available and keep offering it food maybe once every other day. This time of year, mine have mostly reduced the amount of food they eat by half or more, so it could be a seasonal thing with yours, too. Post some pics so we can see its approximate age and condition, unless its very young or very depleted, a bit of a fast is not anything to get too concerned about (yet) LOL.

yeah well i trust the guy i got it from cuz he's a friend of my girlfriends dad. And her dad is a breeder along with this guy....so yeah.
i wish i had a cam so i could give you pics of how he looks right now...but i don't....he's about middle sized though....he seems healthy in all aspects except his eating.
i just don't know what to do.

....you might have that friend of your girlfriend's dad give you some pointers, nothing like asking the breeder!
