could be a prolapse. i don't know if females get them but i don't see why they wouldn't. my male had that once, and i gave him a warm sugar water bath and that night it went away. it has never returned, and so far he has had no trouble breeding or anything. just mix up some sugar and water so that the sugar dissoves and put your leo in there for a while. if that's not what it is, then the bath isn't going to hurt any, at least.

i don't really know much more about it, but this is what i would try first...i hope others on here might have some alternative ideas...

good luck, and let us know!!! i'll keep my fingers crossed for you and your little one...

ok...so it was about two years ago whenit happened to me...so i just did a search for reptile prolapse on google and i came out with this: cool water, not warm water...and heavy concentrations of sugar in it...apparently the sugar can decrease swelling and whatever popped out could pop back in...

...another website said that you could try to push it back in with sterile gloves and ky jelly...yuck!!!

...none of them said any time limits...so...i dunno...i think i probably put my guy in there for about a half an hour probably...and i think i did it more than once...

um...all of the websites said that the prolapse could have been cause by impaction...egg or otherwise...can you take her to your vet soon?

she hasn't been in contact with a male, she is on paper toweling, and she is passing fecals? Yeah i could get her in, should i wait a little bit to see if it corrects itself, or did u take yours in whaen it happend.

no, i didn't need to take mine in. i probably should have, i think i was lucky...all i did was the soak and it fixed itself. i remember how terrified i was!!!

i was prepared to go, though, if i needed to. if it didn't fix itself, then the vet would have put something on it to reduce the swelling, push it back in and probably add a suture or two to be sure it doesn't pop out again.

if i were you, i would just take a breath, soak her in the solution, hope, and wait and see. tomorrow, if she isn't better, give her another soak or two, and by tuesday at the latest, if she isn't better, get her in to see her doc.

that is what i would do. but like i said before, i am no expert by any means, and i have only had one reptile, once have a prolapse. i wish someone else on here could shed some more light!

After the sugar water bath, put the leo in a sterile tank...a tank that can be cleaned extremely easily. If she is on sand or any other small particled bedding get her off it ASAP (it will irritate the problem) and put her on paper towels or some other substrate. Keep her temps the same. If you have small particled bedding in your humid hide, remove it and put damp paper towels in it instead (again so the bedding will not irritate her). If the prolapse does not fix itself in 24 hours even with the baths take her to a VET.

I never had her on any type of substrate other than paper toweling and i took out her rock and peat moss hide. All she has in the cage is water dish (smooth), Calcium Dish (smooth), and a hide (smooth). She is in a 10 gal tank with fresh towel! If it isn't better after school i'm takin her in.
