I have a 38 gal. reptarium with one 6 month old beardie, but would like another. Is my cage big enough to house another beardie or will I need a bigger cage?
Thank you!

One bearded should have 55 gallon minimum. You should do a little "research" on housing two beardies together. It doesn't often work, they fight or mate too soon. They tend to like their own space and consider another beardie an invasion. Any new animal that you get should be quarantined for 3 mo anyway, to make sure you aren't introducing any diseases/parasites to your beardie.

I always recomend at least 6 sq ft of floor space as a minimum. That should work up to 3 animals. You should however always have extra accomadations to seperate animals in the event of a problem. You can "squeeze" one into a 40 breeder (36" X 18"
.

6 sq. feet will allow 3 animals? That's only 2 sf per beardie..

I've wondered a lot about this. I contemplated putting two BD's in my 75 gallon but everyone said it wasn't a smart idea, but in my bearded dragon manual it talks frequently about keeping them in groups and co-habitating. It actually seems to be in favor of it, saying that it's more fun to keep more than one BD together so that you can watch their social behavior. Seems to be conflicting advice there...

manual that tells you in a paragraph to provide a water dish only a couple of days out of the week. Then a few pages later in a caption under a picture it says at all ages, clean water should be available at all times.
Even if it's not the same book, it is in one of them. I guess that's another indication that it's best to check multiple resources before making any decision. Thank God for the forums!!!

a 3' vision. you can set up multiple levels for even more room.
Sometimes they all hang out seperately, sometimes they stack up under the light. I have never seen any problems. What do you feel is wrong with a 3' setup.

It's just not enough room for running around ...I have one beardie per enclosure. The smallest is a 40 breeder with a small 16" female in it.
The others all have 48" x 18", individually.
Different strokes for different folks, I guess..

I think that tank is way too small for 3 adults......there is no climbing apparatus.....no extra level....no where for one of them to go if they want to be seperate. My minimum tank for an adult beardie is 4' x 18" x 18"......I have a three small adult females that I don't breed.....they are 15" and only about 250 grams each....they share a 4' x 2 x 2 they would each do fine in a 40 breeder but they happen to get on well so they are together.
Close quarters IMO is asking for trouble if one of them gets irritated.

I have my 2-yr old beardie in a 40 breeder, which measures 36" x 18" floor space, but I let him out to run quite a bit.
I also have minimal cage decoration so that he can move around freely whenever he gets in his hyper moods.
