To Cool or not to Cool that is the question????

jarosh Nov 26, 2003 09:57 AM

In preperation for the breeding season, I have been hearing two schools of thought. The first is just to cool my western hoggies like I would with any corn or kingsnake and the second being just to leave them at normal temps and they will breed just fine.

I'm looking for everyone elses info on this subject. Which methods were used or are using and the resulting success rates.

I'd just cool them. If you cool them you have a better chance that they will breed. Sometimes it depends where your western hogs are from. If they are from down south, like Texas, they might not need to be cooled. If they are from some place like Minnesota, you should probably cool them. But if you really are serious about breeding your hogs, you should cool them, no matter where they are from. - That's what I’m doing right now.
