I use a temp gun I bought from ProExotics last year. They've come way down in price since then and you can probably find one for about $30. Before that I used a digital thermometer with probe from Walmart. That one gave me humidity also. I like the temp gun a whole lot better - found out that isolated spots in certain cages were getting up to 103! That was a surprise.
I haven't used basking lights with my leos, just undertank heaters. Actually I did at first (a red light since they're nocturnal), years ago, and I one leo in particular seemed to enjoy hanging out under it. My others ignored it altogether.

I was actually asking about thermostats,lol. Do u plug ur heat mat into a thermostat to control the temps? If yes what thermostat have u got and which would u say is best if u have used others?lol thx Gilbery007
