I dont know if it will help shed, but you should soak him in a luke warm water, should feel like nothing when you put your hand in it, neither hot or cold... overheating reptiles is just as bad as having them to cold.
Hi there. What you are going to have to do is soak him in your bathtub for an hour. Use luke warm water. Check after a couple minutes (for defecation) and change the water if necessary. What are you using for a substrate? There is obviously a problem with it. Oh, and please dont use a bucket. I would soak him every week. That is what I do with my crosses, and it keeps them in tip top shape. I would also suggest using "sandy loam" for a substrate. It will hold humidity REALLY well, and your monitor will love to burrow in it. If you have any further questions feel free to email me, Im glad to help. Have a good one-

I have been using decomposed granite, it seems to lose moisture fairly shortly after moistening. I think I will switch over to sandy loam as soon as I can get a hold on some. I thought my
monitor was going to love the d.g. I got but he doesn't seem to really even want to dig much in it. I havent been using it very long but I think it is time to change.
