Last night she ate a large rat (almost 1 lb), now shes active outdoors in 47 degrees f. Every day as long as it is above 40 f I try to get Sobek and Shadow outdoors for at least 25 to 30 minutes, if over 50 they could spend an hour or more. This sweetheart weighs over 25 lbs with an empty stomach (a week after eating).

Just out of curiosity, what kind of outdoor setting do you take your blackthroat out into? Is it an enclosed area or do you just let him walk around? If so, how do you keep him from running off?

I caution trying this but Sobek is taken outdoors in any temps above 40f for varying amounts of time from 30 minutes to an hour for exercise, as well as to crap out there. I have no fence around the yard, but a few neighbors do. I only step inside to the kitchen where I can watch her for a few seconds to get a drink etc. She doesnt run away she in fact follows me to the house, Ive heard from some that a healthy monitor runs away unless they cant, but Ive seen her chase a rabbit and just short of catching it. She is a good climber of trees and grapevines alike as well as a good one for digging holes. I keep an eye on her and stay outdoors with her because of other reasons than her walking off, neighborhood dogs that I might kill attempting to get near her (before she would kill them) because the owner lets it loose to run no leash, or the example of a stupid kid or adult that might be cruel and attempt something dangerous to her (ya know how some people are). Im working on her brother as he goes out also almost everyday.
