New River Tinc Pics

Hey, I've finally graduated to a decent camera. My wife just got a Canon PowerShot A80 for her birthday, and I'm breaking it in now. Let me know what you think of the pics.

Thanks, Matt. I'm really impressed. This is the first macro shot I took with this camera. The functions on it are sure a lot better than the "throw away" digital camera I have been using for the past year or so. As far as price goes, this is certainly one of the more competitively priced 4mp cameras out there. In my book, it's a toss up between this one and the Nikon 4300 that some others are using here. I personally liked the color quality on this one, but the Nikons have the best macro mode in the biz, from what I understand. If you're looking for a quality starter camera with good image quality and ability to grow without breaking the bank (too much), you can get this one for around $350 (shipped). I took the printout to BestBuy, and they matched the price for me. Of course, I also bought about $150 in accessories also.

This doesn't really matter because you already bought a camera, but I saw a nice deal from gateway for a 5mp camera for 299.

Wow . . . what brand? I liked this one because it had several features like the ability to take nice macros (like 2.5" from the subject) right out of the box. I also wanted to get my wife something that was portable and easy to use. This one really fit the bill. I'm just curious as to what type of 5mp camera was going for $300. That sounds like a good deal, but it all depends on what you're looking for.
