A question for you all with male BRB's

sunshine Nov 26, 2003 07:28 PM

I have noticed now 4 times that I found something that on first appearance looked like some sort of tapeworm. I took the first one and examined it under a microscope which seemed to be some kind of feathery material. It had no body wall, organs, or cell structure. I now am thinking it was some kind of excrement from the hemipene or semen. I am pretty certain they came from the male. Could it be somekind of sperm plug or something related to the onset of breeding? I did not notice this last year.
Thanks for any input and have a nice Thanksgiving,

Linda

Linda,
. At this time of year the adult males are thinking about sex and will ejaculate just crawling around in their cages. When they leave these in their water bowls they often have that feathery pattern. I assume that the irregular shape and feathery pattern corresponds to the shape inside their hemipenes.
