Brumating or Stressed?

Jawz Nov 26, 2003 10:07 PM

I just got my new mali last saturday and ive placed the food bowl with various veges in there for the last 4 days (kale, carrots, peas, collard greens, calliflower, broccoli) and he hasnt really eaten anything. Today he walked up to the bowl licked the kale and kinda walked away. He mighta ate something but very little if any.

Is there a way i can tell if its brumating or just not eatin? He seems pretty active and energic, well id say so for the "winter season." He moves around and claws at the glass.

Setup:
20L with 75 Watt basking bulb, UVB tube across the top, paper towel substrate, cave and half log

Hes a baby, CB, about 4-5 inches or so.

Any comments would help

a 75 watt bulb might not produce the correct temperatures. I have a 1 1/2 inch baby in a 20L with a 100watt bulb over a slate rock and thatp is pretty much accurate. But also if you just got him he might still be acclimating. So dont be too worried, people on the fourm here, i have read, had uros that wouldn't eat for over 3 weeks. It's acclimation, he will eat sooner or later. Check on the temperatures also, try to reach mid 90's warm side, mid 80's cool side and 120-130 basking area.

happy thanksgiving!

WEll first i tried a 150 watt bulb but that made my gauge go in circles and 75 produces about 110 but sometimes it jumps higher to 130 for some reason. I need to get a digital thermometer to verify.

I also changed the feedin times, now i feed before i go to school cuz afer school was only a few hours before he'd go to sleep.
