We seperated the males from the females yesterday and put both males in the same tank...but there was a black glass divider seperating the tank in half. (20 gal tank) The divider was really tight against the tank walls and we secured it with duck tape and a rock on either side. One male went on either side of the division and the divider went right to the top of the tanks lid leaving no room for the two males to get together.
So we come home tonight and somehow Bob got to the other side of the tank!!! He was actually in the other gecko's jaws!!! (a tremper giant who is twice his size) The giant had him right on his neck. Immediately I grabbed the giant and had to pry his jaws open!! He wouldn't let go...we were afraid Bob was dead or going to die so immediately we seperated them and put bob in a small critter keeper for the time being. We thought his leg might be broken but it turned out fine and we also thought he might not eat but he took to crickets right away.
he also drank from his water dish, walked around his new environment and seems to be fine.
There is a little nip out of his tail but the tail is still attached....also it seems as if he was about to drop his tail because there seems to be alomost like a little seam where you can almost see where it was supposed to seperate but it's still attached so hopefully it heals.
Everything appears fine...and I'm so glad he's alive...Moral of the story: don't be so stupid and try to cut corners housing two males in one tank with a divider. Spend the extra 10 bucks for another aquarium because it's worth it.
Thought I'd share our misfortune with you guys.
Bob is the gecko furthest to the left in the picture.
