Why multiple males is very important for beerding some boas ?

Dear all , does anyone could tell me why multiple males is very important for breed some species of boas ? why the proportion
of males to females is usually 2:1 or 3:1 (M:F) ? Anybody could give me a detail answer ?

Not exactly sure about boas, but in my highend hodurian projects I usually keep an extra male or two around incase the primary male is not intrested or sterile.

It makes it so I don't waist to years raising a male and female just to find out he is not fertile and then having to raise another male for two more years. The extra male also alows me to prove wiether it is the male or female that is infertile. The odds of two males when breed to the same female producing bad eggs is not likely. This allows me to safely say that it is the female and not the males.

Most breeders of colubrids on the other hand do the opposite. I have 1.6 when I do corns. By buddy does balls and he does the same as you asked and has 2 males for each female, maybe that's why they cost more than corns.
