I am a college student, and am searching for reptile shelters and rehab clinics that are in need of dedicated, hard working volunteers. I am searching for any shelters (herp specified) in Manhattan, or any of the five boroughs.
Thanks

You might try calling some of the Reptile Societies from the link below. They could probably point you in the right direction.

Could also call the ASPCA (humane Society) as well. They will know of reptile shelters in the NY area...heck, seem to remember Animal Cops (or Animal Precint, one of the two shows anyway) mentioning something about a local reptile expert they give rescued reptiles too...just can't recall if it was the new York show or the Houston one.
turtlehomes is centered in Nassau County LI.
turtlehomes If you can deal with the LIE or the LIRR. Its a great organization. Not sure what kind of help they might need. Also the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge is always in need of help (last i checked) they do lots of birds but also help diamonback terrapins. If its lizards you want to work with, there is a guy at Hofstra who is working with the Italian Wall Lizard (a species that has introduced populations in Nassau County). And lets see what's up with the herp atlas for NY? Haven't been there in a few years now.
