Beginner, Just bought a Hatchling Need Advice please.

Hi, just bought myself i hatchling corn snake iv put it in a smallish tank with a heat mat over one side, im using paper towels at the moment for ease, i have some artificial plants in the hot side, and its water bowl in the cool side i have a small hide also in the hot side, does this sound ok to you guys, any pointers, tips etc would be grateful, Thanks.

the heat mat should be underneath the tank...covering about half to one third so the snake can move away to a cooler spot. I think the water dish should be close the the warm side but not sure on that point. Everything else sounds alright..just make sure the temperatures are correct by getting a decent digital thermometer with probe.

As stated in one of the other responses, the heat pad needs to be under one end of the tank to provide a warm side and a cooler side.
I would put the water dish more to the cooler side. The water can evaporate quickly when on the warmest side.
I would also add another hide so it can have one on the cool and warm side.
That gives it a choice.
So, now the most important part...
prepare to get more...they are addicting...lol
