Help! my snake stinks!

Paris6542 Nov 27, 2003 01:44 PM

Hi, I have had a corn for about 7 years, and he has this horrible odor to him, and when he poops it smells like his insides are rotten. I have never encountered any other "stinky snakes," my other corn does not have an odor. Is there something wrong with him or am I just "fortunate" enough to have a stinker? =)

If he has only started to really stink..my guess would be internal parasites. Get a fecal done by a qualified reptile vet to check for internal parasites and bacteria. Coccidia can cause the feces to smell really bad.

Acctually, he has smelled like this ever since I have had him, but it does get progressivly worse each year. I'll take your word for it and get him to my vet A.S.A.P.

Thanks!

Is he starting to get discoloration from his cloaca to about an inch and a half to two inches above it? If this is the case and that being accompanied with the strong odor I would lean towards possible renal failure.
I think you should get it to a vet as quickly as possible.
I didn't catch it in my Sunglow soon enough and he didn't make it.
ere on the side of caution.
Whether it be renal failure or internal parasites something is definitley wrong, they just don't stink under normal conditions.
