Softshell Help !!

Jamo50 Nov 27, 2003 02:23 PM

Hey everybody - Happy thanksgiving. Anyway my spiny has what seems like a shell eating disease. the shell looks like he is shedding but under a close light it seems like it's eating his shell away. he's still very active but something tells me its messing him up. I think it's related to the sand cuz everytime he comes back out it seems to be worse. Please help any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Just normal shedding, mine have always done that. Nothing to worry about. Chris

softies are very prone to various kinds of "shell rot" which may manifest themselves as something slight and barely notoiceable or something quite severe. Can you get us a picture?
It might just be shedding as well.

Tghe best bet is to keep the water a s clean as possble. Do frequent water changes.

Appreciate the help and the quick responses. Lady at pet store let me know about the shell rot in regards to the ph level.
