super hypo tang carrot tail ,,,,,,,your suggestions

bigdee Nov 27, 2003 02:43 PM

I want to get back into leos so I put my red ackie for trade and best offer so far was a super hypo tang carrot tail. What do you think of this trade also Im kinda nervouse because I never did this and dont know about trusting anybody in trading. The leo goes for $280 on their site since I cant afford to pay anything like that for another to breed with, what choices of affordable leos can I breed with this and in tern still get a good colony going? I was also offered a pair of hypo tangs from someone else.

How nice is the SHTCT? You can find pretty nice ones for even as little as $100. Breed it to another SHTCT,or a hypo tang and you should get some nice results; if tangs are the way you want to go.

Well sit right down my wicked son
And let me tell you a story
About the boy who fell from glory
And how he was a wicked son

This ain't no holiday
But it always turns out this way
Here I am with my hand

He took his sister from his head
And then painted her on the sheets
And then rolled her up in grass and trees
And they kissed 'till they were dead

This ain't no holiday
But it always turns out this way
Here I am, with my hand

Well sit right down my evil son
And let me tell you a story
About the boy who fell from glory
And how he was a wicked son

This ain't no holiday
But it always turns out this way

But it always turns out this way

Well...
I'd try and get pictures of the hypos to see first. Some hypos look really nice, particularly if they have some nice tang coloring.

One SHCT isn't going to do much if you're planning on breeding. That's more of a line bred trait, so you'ld need another leo about on par with or maybe even better than that leo to breed with. (not always the case, but usually recommended)

If you want to breed, I'd say get the pair and breed them later on. When you sell the babies, you can try and get some new blood or nicer stock to breed.

The good thing about hypo tangerines are they are "line bred", and not simple recessive. I have a male from Albeys that was produced from his nicest group. My male is nice, but by no means spectacular. This year I had a friend who had a female he had no use for so I said I would put her in with my tangerine male to see what happened. Turns out she was by far the ugliest leo I have ever seen, and in 8 years of breeding that's a lot of leo's. I didn't mind, I had nothing to lose so I put them together anyway. They made some GREAT babies that sold for $75 a piece in a matter of minutes. If you have a nice male put them with as many normal females that you can. Hold back the nicest ones you can, sell the rest of the babies, and keep upgrading that way!
