Michael:
I have obtained eggs from both Ringneck and Sharp-tailed Snakes here in Oregon. These species are two of the smallest snakes in Oregon and probably have similar reproductive biology.
During a study of the Sharp-tailed Snake, approximately 24 - 28 Sharptail eggs were incubated under artifical conditions during 1998 and 1999. If I recall correctly, there was between a 65 - 75% hatch. The purpose for obtaining Ringneck Snake eggs involved a different study and were used in feeding trials with Charina bottae (Rubber Boa).
If no one else responds specifically to your inquiry about Ringneck Snake eggs, let me know and I can probably dig up the conditions used for the Sharp-tailed Snake eggs.

I had been trying to help him with his persistence in ringnecks but the tide has turned since he told me of his MASTER plan to import several different species of ringnecks, produce HYBRIDS, then release them into "his" wild!! He knows of NO ethics or laws and further, when informed he becomes beligerrant! I dont think this forum would be served in helping ANY such endeavor...please boycott all further posts. Thanks,Jeff
If this is true ( hybernizing ringnecks > ? ), it would be miracle in the first place to get any amount of neonates raised up big enough to even breed in captivity. Mind you not impossible but a feat never the less. I mean the food would be almost impossible to acquire for babies. I guess one could keep about a thousand earthworms and hope for them to breed and have the food source, but............

This is a kid with a temperary interest in ringneck snakes. IF he can get anything to live, if he can find anyone to sell him any gravid ones he will likely BREAK THE LAW and release offspring. SOME of us have gone to school for a lot of years to learn WHY WE DONT do this and we pass this knowledge on to you. If you choose NOT to use it....if you think that knowledge isnt important, DONT ask educated people to give of their time and help someone that is beyond it! Jeff
It isn't much different than releasing tons of albino corns in Florida because you want to see more albinos. There is no basis for it, other than selfish interest. The idea REALLY needs to be reconsidered or this whole post will find its way to fish and game.

You don't need to breed a bunch of earthworms to get small worms to feed to baby ringneck snakes. I find little worms that're 3 to 4 inches in length in my backyard all the time in warm weather it isn't difficult.
Michael
My "Master Plan", I wouldn't be letting them go into "my wild" so you said, it's a place where plenty of people good looking for snakes. You judge people too much. Next time just mind your own damn business.
Michael
`I wouldn't be letting them go into "my wild" so you said, it's a place where plenty of people good looking for snakes.'
It doesn't matter whether or not it's `yours'. Releasing non-native critters is a very bad idea either way.
`You judge people too much. Next time just mind your own damn business.'
We're herpers. When you start talking about releasing non-native herps it IS our business.

I didn't say anything like that. I said I was gonna breed Prairie Ringnecks and let the babies go in hopes that survive till sexual maturity and breed with the Northerns that are around.
Michael
Why would you do this? That is ILLEGAL, not to mention a horrid idea. PLEASE do not do this. All it will do is lead to trouble. Andy

Don't get them wet.
They dont like bright lights.
And NEVER feed them after midnight.
DUMB IDEA GUY!!
Wheres your scence of humor? I know all to well that hybrid ringnecks like the gremlins can overtake an area in a matter of weeks, destroying farms, burning habitat and looting strip malls. I was only poking fun by creating an image of a mad scientist with an assistant. But now im poking fun at you Sponge Bob Square Post.
Your to funny!, and i like the sponge bob square post. good one. (honestly)
That was pretty funny. I'm still lol. Can you write for me when someones being a jerk? Thanks for the laugh-smokey
