hunger strike (new crested)

CCappy175598 Nov 27, 2003 03:44 PM

I bought 2 crested at the philly show earlier this month. Both from 2 different vendors. The smaller female (housed seperately) has been fine and eating alot on her own. The 9 month old male has been not however. He is currently residing in a large critter keeper. Every day I give him crickets and baby food mixed with CGD. He doesn't want to eat on his own though. Everynight I hand feed him the babyfood/CGD mixture via eyedropper by getting him to lick it off his nose, hes pooping and such and has even gained some weight. How come he isn't eating on his own though! Im sort of worried, should I be?

Assuming he has good wieght and is not showing any signs of illness, I would skip a couple days of offering food. Offer whichever food choice you prefer. If he still doesn't eat skip another day or two and try again. If it is not ill it will not starve itself to death. I think it is still acclimating and your throwing to much at it at once.
good luck

The hadn't hand fed him for a few days, and last night I sneaked into my room and found him eating out of his dish, yay! Also, some crickets are missing, som Im assuming he ate them.
