Hello, I was wondering if Cypres Mulch is a good substate for a Savannah Monitor. Thanks alot.

I think that cypress mulch is a great substrate. But, there are better ones. Pro Exotics recomended cypress mulch for the longest time, but now they are using decomposed granite. This substrate is not available in my area. I personaly use sandy loam. I have found it to be the perfect substrate for monitors. It holds humidity really well, is easy to dig in, can hold a perfect burrow, and the animals can lay eggs in it no problem. I would honestly look into using one or the other. Both are also generaly cheaper then cypress mulch. Good luck with your sav, and his enclosure. Have a good one!

the non-pesticide, non-fertiliser, organic kind can be used - the others are a health risk.
