Kimberly Rock Monitor........

Dirt Nov 27, 2003 07:44 PM

I recently received a male adult kimberly rock monitor. He is the lavender phase(his bum is reddish) and has all his black and white tail. The only person who ive had any contact w kimberlies is varanus creations who has a female for $800 but who knows if she burnt out or not.....does any have a female kimberly ive got a big akkie setup to breed them in.....also ive got some akkies would be more than willing to listen to any offers on akkies. But i really enjoy my KRM!!! He doesnt hide, eats out of my hand, and NO BITING. He is a STUD...But i dont want to use a breeder settup for alone male. Ive got a dilemma. I have some offers for GTP trades and such but i really dont know how rare kimberlies are. wOULD REALLY LIKE TO HEAR FROM THE COMMUNITY about this ??? p.s. had him for a month and a half eats rat pups roaches crickets and super worms

Your post on this forrum kind of bugs me. One reason is that you even have a kimberly. You really need to do some research before you start pointing the finger at my business about "selling a burnt out breeder". You dont know that, and the female was a juvie. An animal that is a juvanile has not reached sexual maturity yet, so she cant breed. There for a juvie cant be a burnt out breeder. The one thing that we strive for that sets us apart from others is integraty, honesty, and grade A animals. And for you to say that we are the contradictory really upsets me. I just hope that other catch on about how you really have no clue what you are talking about. Have a nice day-

I think what Jed is trying to get at is WE DO NOT SELL ANIMALS THAT ARE BURN'T OUT unless otherwise stated.

I don't think the deal stands anymore anyway, actually I know it doesn't, I counted six eggs in her tummy today (or atleast what appears to be).

thanks, andrew

A good friend will come bail you out fo jail, but a true friend will be sitting next to you saying "Damn that was fun!!".

andrew owen Nov 28, 2003 09:43 AM

He never said the monitor was a juvie, we were discussing an adult female that has laid less than 5 clutches.

Andrew, I enjoy reading your posts. You are generally kind and help out inexperienced keepers more than most would. For that, you have my respect. I have spent countless hours on your site, (mostly playing the video game And I have spoken to people who have purchased monitors from you guys that are very happy with what they got. However, on the subject of this Kimberly, you are mistaken. Your partner, "JH" in fact DID say the animal was a juvenile. Here is the quote. "You dont know that, and the female was a juvie. An animal that is a juvanile has not reached sexual maturity yet, so she cant breed. There for a juvie cant be a burnt out breeder." That was cut and pasted from your partners post above. Now, he could be mistaken. Then again, maybe you are mistaken. Regardless of who is right or wrong you can see where this thread is going. I am sure that the Kimberly is NOT a burnt out breeder, but for the record, I think it would benefit you guys to clarify the discrepancy between your posts. It also couldnt hurt to apologize for saying that JH never said it was a juvie when in fact that is exactly what he said.

Respectfully,

BigMike

thanks mike,

yeah, the female is not a juvie, nor is she for sale anymore.

thanks for the comments about the site and my posts. i do genuinely care about herpetoculture and helping fellow monitor keepers.

thanks for your support,

he appeared to be discussing a different kimberly than what i had chatted about.

that is a misunderstanding.

unfortunately it probably didn't help that jed has been in california this week and me at home

gotta love jealousy!

anyhow, as far as kimberly rocks go, you are right we have not produced them. we have gotten several clutches and several more are on the way. two clutches went full term even to the point of pipping and having heads sticking out but then dying, and i still have no idea why. as far as other monitors go, well you can say what you want, but there are pictures on my site of preceding clutches that hatched and more are on the way.

what do you produce?

It works good.

mitch212 Nov 29, 2003 11:53 PM

Did I say there was anything wrong with "sandy loam"? So does sandy loam work well for you? How well has it worked for you?

oscar parsons Nov 30, 2003 02:18 AM

My ackie burrows in it, and my female savannah tries to dig in it.

mitch212 Nov 30, 2003 04:13 AM

So does most dirt.

Oscar Parsons Nov 30, 2003 10:16 PM

That's why it was a big deal for Andrew.

MOST dirt doesn't hold a burrow, doesn't hold moisture, or it turns to mud, or the animals don't like it. That's why Andrew bothered to explain his discovery.

I found it before Andrew posted about sandy loam.

What sort of animals do you have and what sort of dirt are they on?????

Oscar

"Most dirts work". I for one, wish that was true. No more clay muck n stuff, all perfect dirt beds, as far as the eye can see... Oh yeah, only in my dreams.(pretty sad when you dream about dirt)

Many people take MANY years before they learn, and thats IF they ever learn! How bout some positive reinforcement here people, at least if hes showing growth! Most people simply give up and go find a new toy.
