Options instead of a screen top??

jack7777766 Nov 27, 2003 08:15 PM

I was wondering for glass tanks, is there anything besides a screentop one could get for a top??
I would need it for an Amazon Tree Boa since they need more humidity 65-75% which the screentop would make hard. I know people cover the top with towels and such but I want something that looks nice, to either cover it or replace the screen top totally.
There is probably going to be a bulb for heating so a small portion of screen or something would be needed to put it on or let the heat and light through.
Thanks for any ideas you might have.

Thanks
Jack

Since you are already using a glass enclosure, you could get a piece of glass cut that would fit under the screen lid and be supported by the lip inside the glass aquarium. The new glass could be cut to fit only half or two thirds the surface area to allow some ventilation and lighting. The glass would be hardly noticable, unlike towels and stuff.
Just a suggestion

This is what I did to tweek humidity in a 20h for a redeye.I used an old reptarium cloth cut to fit inside an ESU screen top.Spot glued then siliconed. It keeps the humidity and crickets in.Then used a folding glass top, they sell'em in the aquarium section, that covers 3/4 of the top.If it keeps to humid for to long just fold or you could remove one pane.Hope this helps.JB
