You need to STOP handling him. He's urinating on you because of stress. So you are stressing out your frog--also you may be poisoning him. Anything that contacts the frog's skin will be absorbed into his body. Frogs are ultra sensitive to any kind of chemicals, and very prone to toxicity. and you may get him infected with the bacteria/germs on your hands.

- Probably, he is not used to people handling him and feels threaten. If you really want to handle your white tree frog you should do it rarely. First wash you hands with anti-bacterial before and after handling to prevent infections, or rashes. Every other day handle him a couple of minutes (by allowing him to sit on your hand). Eventually, he will get used to you and stop urinating. Also, dont pick the frog up let him climb on your hand.

In all honesty, if you want a pet you can handle, get a rat. White's, or any frog for that matter, do not like being handled. They are show pieces, not cuddle buddies.

The urinating on your hand is a defence. He's stressed and scared and his urin contains a toxin that would cause the average preditor to drop him so that he can get away.

IF you must handle your frog... and that should only be every once in a great while for tank cleanings of health checks, DO NOT wash your hands with an anti-bacterial soap. It is poisonous to your frog and can make it sick when absorbed through it's skin. Simply rince your hands VERY well with warm water, if you don't think that is enough you can squirt a little water declorinator on your hands.

Using antibacterial soap will leave a residue on your hands which is TOXIC to the frog. Even the perfumes in the soap residue is poisonous. The oils of human skin is even detrimental to frogs.

If you want a pet to handle, get a bearded dragon or some kind of mammal..

My tigerleg treefrogs will literally jump on me when it's feeding time because they like to be hand fed, and get excited seeing me. I gently try to shake them off as soon as possible, worried that I might make my frogs sick, then I mist them with declorinated ammonia free water (treated with aquarium water conditioner)...(Note: One time one jumped on my face near my mouth!) Friendly, yes, but bad for the frogs! I would prefer my frogs more standoffish...it feels gross having a frog stick on one's face...ewwwww

I've never touched the outside of my pacman. I've touched the inside of his mouth before, and I was too scared to rinse him out or anything... I figured eating the dirty crickets and mealworms are bad enough. Does anyone know what kind of wood mealworms are kept in? I just thought, if it's oily wood, would it affect our frogs?

We all know our pets will eat us if we were small enough.
