sleep and frogs

JadeFox Nov 28, 2003 12:23 AM

My eyelash frog (leaf frog) woke me up 2:00 a.m. with a loud QUACK about as loud as a car horn. That got my red-eyed tree frog to start chuckling, and then my tiger leg tree frog started. But my eyelash frog is adorable, and he will come to you if you talk to him. so how can I get mad at him

usually when he quacks during the morning when his bubble stone is going, it makes me jump because how loud and sudden it is. but night time--that's horrible to be awakened in that manner. Scares the daylights out of me!

How can I prevent him from croaking at night? Any special tips or hints? And yes for sure I keep the bubble stone off at night.

Thanks,
Jadefox

This is the reality of keeping frogs as pets! It would be unethical, in my eyes, to do anything to prohibit them from doing what is natural as in this case. The only solution is to move them to an area of the house where it will not bother you if they make noise at night.

Yeah, this is why my frogs made their way from our bedroom, to out in the dining room. Now, they can be themselves, and we can actually get some sleep!

I decided to keep my eyelash frog in my bedroom. He's pretty cute, and when you talk to him he will actually come to you. An occasional QUACK is being tolerated. He's just TOO adorable to put anywhere else!

And he's funny playing in the water when the bubble stone is activated

Some frogs are just plain noisy! I had a bullfrog that would croak loudly every night, and it really shook people up who stayed overnight. My boyfriend's mom thought it was a bear outside making noise!
But I agree that frog noises are cool to hear in your home; whenever I hear them, it makes me think, "I must be doing something right."

Ohhh I *love* my bullfrog. He has the most awesome sound. It's winter and he's quiet and I miss hearing it. I think it is a very relaxing sound myself. It can be loud, but sometimes not, but it's all good.

Maybe I should build a pond and somehow keep them in there so they can breed and let them go all over the neighborhood including the lake I live close too hehe
I truly wish I could get them to breed! now *that* would be an awesome frog chorus!

Be careful of that. If they're not native, you don't want them gobbling up any, uh, natives. Ask someone who knows the local law, it might be illegal too.
