How big do garter snakes get? Do they lay eggs? If so, how do you incubate, temp and humidity? What do you usually feed your garters, and how much?

it greatly depends on which garter you get. But most garters will eat worms, some eat fish, some mice, some birds/eggs, dead strips of fish, they eat mostly anything. depending on type, adult size can be from like 10 to 48 inches. I have two juvenile easterns that eat 1-2 times a day. adults will probably eat 1-2 times a week depending on what you feed them.

Garters snakes give birth to live young, no eggs to worry about incubating!

Typical adult length for most species is around 2 feet. A 3-footer would be a big garter snake, but some subspecies have been recorded up to 4 feet or so. They are viviparious, meaning that they bear their young live (no eggs). In addition to earthworms and small fish, they will eat frogs, toads, and salamanders. Many can be converted to small mice, and some will learn to eat chopped fresh, raw fish. They'll usually feed once or twice a week, with the amount depending on the size of the snake (and the prey).
