Hello. The guys at the retic forum won't answer me so I'm hoping you guys will. I was having a hard time trying to come up with a top that I can use for a large snake in a Vision tub. Any advice would be great, thanks.

We constructed a rectangular wooden top for a large trough that we converted into an alligator enclosure. It was nothing more than a frame bolted on to the frame/trough itself (both ends were solid boards and the middle section was heavy galvanized screen securely framed and mounted into a door to allow easy access). But, with that being said, I would have some serious reservations about using a vision tub as a large snake cage. you will have a great loss of heat unless a well designed top is implemented. Security is another major issue. Why not use a vision cage designed for snakes? Or, are you just trying to reuse something you already have? If so, just carefully plan the top out. With our gator trough, we mounted pro product radiant heat panels on each end that are attached to the inside roof of the top along with fluorescent lights; the middle has a basking area where we have two Power Sun bulbs suspended creating an additional basking sight. The heat panels do a great job in boosting ambient temps while also warming the water. For a burm cage, you can probably just use a PP heat panel as your sole heat source...they come in many sizes. Anyway, good luck and PLAN CAREFULLY.
