Not really into photography, just a nice snake.

Nice snake. Your picture though, appears to be about 1-1 1/2 stops underexposed. Try using an external flash, if you have one, or setting your camera to "plus 1"EV, if possible. Also, image editing software now can fix many minor problems. I borrowed your picture, and used an auto-correction feature of Photoshop Elements 2.0. This is the results.

I appreciate your input, though the "underexposure" that you speak of is actually the snakes real color. the background is a very dark green sweater and the snake is dark as well, with the more common yellow bands being very orange in coloration. I saw that you posted your version of the pic in the photo gallery, and just so you know a scarlet kingsnake belongs in the milksnake section.-smokey
