3 Questions about my Ig

Dragon_Empress Nov 28, 2003 07:38 PM

1. Eve is turning orangeish, is this normal or is it just her light? (UBV)

2. She has been acting a little meaning and has been trying to dig a nest in her newspaper. It's around the iguana breeding season here, what is she trying to do?

3. When are iguanas eligable to breed anyway?

That's all, thank you for any answears.

Hey you stole my name!

Are you sure that Eve is a gurl?? Just asking cuz mature males often turn orangeish and get mean during breeding season. i'm not sure if females ever turn orangish, i just know that my female, Tiamat, never did. If you are sure she's a female tho, and she's showing signs of having eggs the you should provide her with an egg box so she can lay them! How big is your cage, i'm just asking because if its to small then that could be why yer ig is digging at the bottom. ... I'm not sure on the average age that iguanas start breeding behaviors, but my friends male started when he was about two if that helps. Also, people have told me that only male iguanas get really mean during breeding season, but my Tiamat is a little terror during that time! i hope i helped a little, good luck!

1. That's normal for breeding season, but I thought it was the males that usually developed the flashy colors. Are you sure she's a she?

2. They just get more active, grumpy, and agitated during breeding season - especially if they're not "getting any." The clawing around in the newspapers probably has nothing to do with nest making

3. They're eligible any time after about 2 or 3 years of age.
