help with Bullsnake

greg woodie Nov 28, 2003 11:59 PM

i was hoping someone here could help me out. recently, my Bullsnake has been rubbing and pushing its nose and head against the front of the cage like it wants out. it's not in shed and, as far as i know, the temperatures are OK. today, i took the snake out to examine it. i carefully opened its mouth and the inside front of its upper jaw looked a little red like maybe it's infected. i will admit sometimes i do feed it stunned mice. is it possible a mouse bit it? someone told me you can apply peroxide for any infection that might be there. does this work? anybody have any experience in this area? i greatly appreciate any advice!

thanks!
greg

The only thing I would try is Listerene diluted with water, anything else will make him more sick. Just apply with a cotton swabb once a day for a few days. I would only do this if you are sure there is redness and inflamation. I would also clean out and wash the cage and furniture and place some fresh substrate in there. Also, bring up the heat to 85 and provide lots of fresh water. If it gets worse take him to the vet. Hope this helps your little buddy get better.
