only suggestion, with all that gravel get one of those gravel vacuums (learned this from experience). And if you don't have it already, somewhere where he thinks he's hiding. It's just too cute when they think they are hiding and you find them and they blink looking side to side. I pretend I don't see my turtle.
I put a few feeder fish (Rosie Reds) in my tank. My turtle likes to chase them and occasionally catches them (I was watching this morning and Mike was really unsuccessful but he seemed to enjoy the chase)
