"Reptile Relief"

fourfeathers Nov 29, 2003 01:05 AM

Anybody ever heard of or used the product called "REPTILE RELIEF"? It's supposed to be "so friendly it can be applied directly to the reptile, gentle, yet powerful" enough to kill the mites and larvae on contact.

Sound too good to be true? Maybe. I've read some reviews on it by some folks that have supposedly used it and they've left positive feedback. Not just on the site for the people trying to sell it.

Here's the link: http://www.naturalchemistry.com/pet/

If any of you have used this, PLEASE let me know because I'm thinking of ordering some.

The "Provent-o-mite" sounds powerful. Maybe too powerful. I read somewhere that after using that stuff that any bug that even comes near the room where it's used could die. Not a good idea for me since I keep all of my tarantulas in the same room as my snakes.

PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU'VE HAD EXPERIENCE WITH THIS STUFF.

Thanks,

Marcus

You either swear by the stuff or hate it. I personally hate it. I have used it and seen it not work. Since I am mite paranoid, I use the stuff I know works.

ANY pet bugs you have should be removed from the area that you are using any mite product in. If your snake has mites, then move the snake to a different room to treat him. It is always better to be safe than sorry.

I feed crix to my geckos and bearded dragons so escaped crix are always running around the house. Including the quarentine room. So far, I have never seen crix drop dead from me using provent-a-mite in snake cages. I have only seen them die, if I have used provent-a-mite on the carpet also. But like I said, it is better to be safe than sorry. Use the mite product of your choice in a different room from your bugs.

I've used reptile relief (also called De flea) And it does work, spray it right on the animals, it's never hurt any reptiles that I've used it on. I also use Black Knight in and around the enclosure. Provent-a-mite is too powerful in my opinion. I've killed snakes and lizards with it even while following directions exactly. Your Tarantulas shouldn't be around that stuff at all, I'd move them to another room for a month or so while you are treating for mites. Water baths and oils and stuff like that are fairly usless. They might get rid of the mites on the snake, but don't do anything about getting rid of the problem permanently. You need poisons for that.
