Egg Incubation

BeardieKid14 Jun 01, 2003 07:36 PM

My female is gravid and I am preparing for the arrival which should be within the next week. I was wondering using Albeys method is it ok to us vermiculite? Is there such thing as too much humidity? If so how do I regulate it?

Thanks,
Adam Hallquist

I would not use vermiculite if I was going to use Albey's method. We use Albey's method with the perilite and have excellent success. I know several people that use vermiculite with great success. I would just not do the 1 to .8 ratio. I actually do not know the ratio for vermiculite, so maybe that is it. I thought it was more of a feel thatn a science with it. I hope this helps.
good luck,
Bruce

If you are using vermiculite the ratio is 1:1. Example would be 20 grams vermiculite to 20 grams of water. I have used both methods and have much better success with the perlite using Albeys method. If you use the vermiculite and it is too moist the eggs can mold and go bad.
