Shell Discoloration: RES hatchling

ltdead Nov 29, 2003 10:38 AM

Perhaps he`s only shedding for the first time. Or maybe it`s some kinda fungus or shell rot? I can`t get a very good picture of it, but three different places on his carapace, on the seams connecting his scutes, are turning a grey/white color. Is he simply starting to shed his scutes?

Here`s the other picture. One`s blurry, but shows one of the affected areas noticeably. This one`s clear, but you can`t see the white area very well. YAY.

Don't be concerned over something so small. Looks perfectly healthy to me. Maybe the shell is coming off so it looks whitish... if you are taking good care of it you shouldn't be concerned

Well, I`m not losing sleep over it. But I would like to know what`s going on.
Lloyd`s my frist water turtle so it`s all a little different. If you ask me, desert tortoises seem much easier. Throw some veggies in the backyard every other day, let them destroy your plants and devour your flowers and strawberries... and they`re healthy and happy.
But Lloyd needs heaters and water changes and filters and lightbulbs...
