Uromastyx X Chuckwalla possible??

mike3 Nov 29, 2003 10:47 AM

I was wondering if it is possible to breed a chuckwalla to a uromastyx. They have the exact same habitat so if they were bred you would know how to take care of the hybrids because there is no difference in habitat between a uro and a chuck. This is just a question. and if you look at their faces they look very much alike, and the way their body is built is almost identical. The only main difference between them is the tail. So genetically would it be possible to breed a chuckwalla and a uromastyx?

0.1 Pit Bull/German Shephard/ Lab/ ect. mix (Kodak) - looks like an over grown toco bell dog.

Hello,

This would be impossible. They cannot crossbreed as the Uromastyx are from Agamidae, and Chuckwallas from Iguanidae. Although they seem closely related, they are not. They are similar because they are biological equals. They occupy the same biological niche in their seperate environments.
