Anyone try Mini Compact Fluorescent?

kyle1745 Nov 29, 2003 04:17 PM

Has anyone tried this type of bulbs?
www.nolico.com/saveenergy/23_watt_mini_swirl.htm

Do they give off too much heat? They are only 23watts, so I would not thing they would put off too much heat, but I wonder if they put off enough light.

Ideas, thoughts?

I have ordered the rest of my 2x13watt parts for my 15gal and will post pics after it is done.

Hey Kyle,

I've been using those particular bulbs for about three
years now with no ill effects. They do give off a little heat
but I would say less than a 25w bulb. If you place them in
a dome reflector or an incand. hood the heat dissapates well.

Hope this helps

That is what I was thinking about doing. Using 2 for a 15gal high. I have already ordered 2x13watt compact, but want to try these also.
