jampea dwarf retic/bali dwarf

amelia Nov 29, 2003 04:30 PM

well I have been doing some looking arund and I want either a bali or a jampea, bali preferable due to their coloring, but the jamps are nice too, anyways can anyone just give me some info on keeping them, from someone who has had experience with them, I just want to know all I can before I purchase one of these amazing animals.

hi i m also on a quest for more info on the bali dwarf-i neer heard of them before i saw one at reptile store in my area-
they have the nice coloration imo i like it better than the jampea-but im not sure if the bali is a true dwarf-they say they only get to about 10-11 ft which is still big for a snake but weigh less than 25lbs, so thats not too bad. nevertheless big snakes on the whole-but if their growht rate was small and thats really the max, i wouldnt mind. also i m not sure of temperament, although i hear balis are not too nice. maybe males stay smaller
let me kno if u have ne more info
thnx

For Bali's Read what I've written above but for the jampeas I have little experience with dealing with them. From the research I've done I can say that they do grow slow but still get pretty big. What's big though, not 20 ft like a normal. Go to NERDs web site as they have a 13ft Jampea and to me it looks like a pretty heavy bodied retic! Much Heavey bodied then my bali's, although I don't have any 13ft bali's as of yet .

The Jampeas are actualy quiet small avraging around 60 grams as babys. That is about 2.5x smaller than a newborn Bali retic. Like most locales the females seem to have a way of breaking our preconsived notions though,(I guess sombody forgot to tell her she was a dwarf, certainly they forgot to tell the balis) I would assume that as they are indviduals, it is more dependant on the particular animal. Wether or not she will grow over 13 or stay under. Either way the males are usualy quiet small, and the avg female I would assume also. I must stress that you should try your very best to find CB animals as the WC of either locale can be troublesome in there own ways.. goodluck, Shaun D
