breeding question

throatoyster Nov 29, 2003 04:31 PM

i have a male who is about a year and a half old... closer to two years, and a femal who is about three and a half feet, very healthy. i know that the femal could easily be bred now, but i don't know if the male is old enough. how old should the males be, and would the size difference have any impact on them breeding? also, i have read different things on when breeding season is, with them being indoors, is there a certain time of year i should put them together, or should it not matter?
thanks

At 2 years of age, he should be big enough. Generally, 600 grams or larger is good for a male. If you know how, you can see if he's producing sperm. If you have nothing else going on, just throw them together and see what happens. Breeding season is in process for some and beginning for others. Here in Florida, it finally dipped below 80 degrees (DTH).

Good luck!
