My Leo won't go in his moist hide anymore.

greentara Nov 29, 2003 05:41 PM

McGee my Leopard Gecko is about four months old. He's a great eater, is taming down nicely and is growing like crazy but he has stopped using his moist hide. It's plastic tupperware container with a door cut out. I mist it whenever the moss inside gets dry and he used to sleep in there all the time but recently he stopped using it. I did change the brand of moss that I was using and I'm wondering if that's the problem. I switched back to the old brand but he still isn't going in there. He's looking like he might shed again and I'm worried that he won't have enough moisture to shed comfortably. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think that if he feels like he needs more humidity then he will go in there. The first gecko I got didnt have a moist hide for over a year and has never ever had any problems shedding. I think he should be just fine. I'm sure he knows what he needs to do and when, they do have their instincts after all.

Best of luck,

Jeremy

my humid hides just have a layer of sponge cut out to fit the bottom. maybe they might like the texture better? maybe the hide is too moist? also, sometimes they crawl in there & out when no one's looking- my girl myrtle is especially good at that!
