Hi all, I was just wondering what a foul proof way to get a cb baby cuora mouhotti to eat. I just recently got it, so I am sure it is still get used to its new surroundings.

Do these turtles prefer to eat in dry land or in the water??

Can you describe your set up? Includings temps, hiding places etc. What all have you tried?

My set up is as follows:

For substrate I use repti-bark misted with water daily, on top of that I have spagnum moss misted couple of times a day. I keep 2 undertank heaters on one side of the tank, but I do not use it under the tank, I have them on the sides of the tank. The temperature is about78 degrees. On the other side of tank i keep a shallow plate with water, wich is actually pretty big. I have shallow water in it.

I just got them 2 days ago, so the turtles are still getting acclimated. I have tried giving them worms, raw clean fish.

Let me know if I can improve what I am doing.

You may want to consider raising the temp a little to about 80- anything past 85 and all mine will burrow and become inactive. I tend to stray away from the bark. I use top soil, peat with moss on top. They like to hide quite a bit. Have you tried small mealworms or other small insects? Sometimes little crickets can do the trick. What kind of lighting do you have on them? I use lower wattage mercury vapor lamps as well as florescents.
