Beardie Confession Here...

Snakemother Nov 30, 2003 08:01 AM

My oldest pet is one of my beardies, and I've been obsessing about brumation this year, as I've read that sometimes old dragons pass during this time. I've done everything I could to make sure he wouldn't brumate this year, but of course he is. I've been such a nut about this (checking him constantly) that my husband has now allowed me to brumate my old fellow in our bed. He sleeps between our pillows, and at night will sometimes wake up enough to put his snout against my face to wake me up to get under the covers with the warm mammal types (LOL!).
Now, of course, I'm worried that maybe this rather unusual brumation procedure will do him harm. The younger dragons are all brumating in their cages with the lights off. Should I do the same for him and worry, or is my unconventional method alright?

As long as he's healthy, brumation shouldn't hurt. Get a fecal done to make sure he's clean (Parasite-wise) before slipping deeper into brumation, and hopefully it'll be O.K.
