False bottom ( where do you get the egg crate material?)

addam4208283 Nov 30, 2003 11:54 AM

I just wanted to know where you guys got the egg crate material for your false bottoms? I have gone to both Lowe's and H.D. and neither of them knew what I was talking about.
thanks in advance for your help.

Home depot sells it in the recessed lighting aisle - next to the translucent solid panel. Just tell the sales staff that you are looking for a replacement plastic grid for your recessed fluorescent lighting fixture.

At my HD it is NOT near the lighting fixtures - it is in the middle of the store with the recessed ceiling fixtures. My HD only sells white - although I prefer black.

Hope this helps,

I didn't know they made different colors of egg crate. The white is very ugly, what other colors are available?

I buy and use black eggcrate for my false bottoms. Black eggcrate covered with black screening is fairly invisible. I have seen silver and gold as well.

There are also a number of styles other than the standard "squares" pattern.
