HELP !!!!!

kdollva Nov 30, 2003 12:00 PM

Maybe im over reacting.... but my dragon has started a new behavior that has made me nervous. I caught him breathing funny. When he breaths out his beard puffs out (doesnt turn black). He did this for serveral breaths. This did not happen after he just ate (so I knew something wasn't stuck in this throat). I took him out of the tank right away and made him a bath. He went potty like he always does in the water and I also made him drink lots of water droplets. His behavor is otherwise normal, even last night he was extremely active in his cage. Is this just me over reacting or could this be a serious issue.

PS. His mouth isnt gaping open either when he is in the cage..cuz at first i thought respitory infection.???

discover their beards and play with them. This is normal, we have some we jokingly call it their morning exercise, even if they do it during the day. Not just males will do it, the females will also.

OH thank goodness! I was really worried something was wrong. He has been really displaying his beard a lot more, esp. to my boyfriend when I am holding him. I think he's trying it on for size. Thank you so much for your help!

All my beardies have done it at one point or another. i was concerned at first, but nothing bad happened, so i figured it must be a "beardie thing". The beardies seem to do it just after they wake up, so I called it morning exercises too hehe....now, if only I could get up and do my morning exercises!

He demands breakfast when he is up! HE is within 11 grams of the largest one now, it closing in fast on him, I think in the next week, he might overtake him in weight, he is eating more!

My adult male beardie will do the same. he has never seen another female or anything, but he will sometimes just puff out his beard and stare at his reflection in the glass. with the head tilt and all. and he'll puff it up and down and just look at his reflection, its so cute!
