I'm not sure why he would be brumating, because the lights are all set the same as they were in the summer, and the temperature still ranges from 105 to 75. He has just been lying under his little hide log (which is on the warm side) since yesterday afternoon. i tried to take him out to eat some crickets last night, but he just sat in his feeding container oblivious to all the crickets squirming around him. The thing I'm mostly worried about is he hasn't gone to the bathroom yet this week (he usually goes about twice a week), yet he did eat earlier this week so he has some food in him. Will this cause any problems? He was basking after his last meal, but my dragon's kind of wierd and he doesn't go very often, so he hasn't gone yet. If he doesn't go, will there be any problems with having the partially digested food inside of him? If so, how do I get him to go? He doesn't go in the bathtub, he just sort of goes when he feels he has to. Also, I thought they were supposed to be completely asleep? Whenever I look into his hiding space his eyes are open. Also, are there any things I should look for while he's brumating to make sure he's okay, because i'm almost 100 percent sure that we got rid of all of his parasites, but I don't want to take a chance. Should I just make sure he's not thinning out too much? If he starts looking unhealthly skinny (like exposed hip bones) should I wake him up and try to get him to eat something? Possibly force feed him something?
Maybe I just shouldn't let him go into brumation yet. Is there any way I can stop him until he has a bowel movement? He won't eat or bask and he's otherwise a healthy reptile. I'm just a little worried that the food inside of him will cause problems.
thanks in advance.
