Is this feasible?

Hey- I have an 8x8x4 foot pen in my yard in Melbourne Beach, FL. It's made of plywood, and I think it would be perfect for an adult Ball or Burmese. It stays warm here year- round. Could I keep an adult python outside all year? If so, right now I don't have a top to my pen. Can an adult scale a four foot wall? Thanks. Brooks

It would probably work for an adult burm, but its pretty big for a ball python. Just wondering though, what would you do when it got in the 40's-50's, like it is right now? The snake would be way too cold. It probably wouldnt be easiest thing to find a place in your house to keep a 15ft snake(if you got a burm). There are a lot of things to think about before you get a big snake like that.

Right now, it's 70. I have an electric outlets in the pen, so I'd use ceramic heaters, and heat pads inside a giant hide box to keep it warm. Thanks. Brooks

a burm could easily get over that wall...a ball could too if you have any branches near it.

It was awesome this weekend down at the beach. I was surfing- no wetsuit required. Yesterday, it was in the 80's. Thanks. Brooks

surfing. It gets too cold for a Ball Python without external heating. You also have to deal with bugs and birds of prey that would love to fly into an open enclosure for an easy meal (if a Ball Python). I've seen some racoons that would make a quick meal of a BP and yes they can climb.

Yeah, I had no intention of putting one out there without super heating. I have a friend who makes outdoor heat boxes for tortoises. I'd have to steal his idea. If it got really cold, I could always bring them inside. I'd really like to have them out for as long as possible. As far as predators go- I have a constant trap set on the opposite side of my property that keeps all predators away from my hatchling Redfoot tortoises. I'm not worried about that. Thanks. Brooks
P.S. Two days ago the water and waves were awesome!
